MSC Data-Warehouse: a new tool for data storage and elaborations on masonry strengthening with composite materials. Now open freely for contribution!
https://contribution.rilem.isqweb.it/
The 223-MSC Rilem Technical Committee started its work on 2007, aimed firstly at sharing and systematizing the current knowledge on the structural behaviour of masonry structures and components strengthened with composite materials, in order to highlight needs and lacks in the field, to direct further research developments.
As first result of this phase, a data-warehouse (DWH) has been recently produced. It is able to store data related to single structural components (walls/panels, arches/vaults/domes, columns/pillars) or whole constructions, as well as to focus on specific problems, as bond, durability and NDT applications, or to include the main description of interventions on cases study. Experimental works are mainly considered, but sections concerning analytical or numerical evaluations are also provided. Data on materials, researches and results are easily exportable in common formats (Excel, Acrobat) and processed for direct comparisons, by means of charts and diagrams, in order to permit a quick evaluation of the current state of knowledge, and to evidence possible topics to integrate with researches in the field.
This tool has been tested by TC members (now about 40 people) and it is now open freely to contribution from experts through the web site:
https://contribution.rilem.isqweb.it/

Editorial from Peter Richner, Vice-president of RILEM
In March 2006 RILEM organized an internal workshop in Madrid under the title 'Making RILEM more attractive'. Among the topics discussed was the publication of proceedings and books. It was concluded that the content and the quality of proceedings from RILEM conferences and the state of the art reports produced by the technical committees of RILEM are of high quality. At the same time it was felt that the visibility of the material should be enhanced by making the content freely available on the RILEM website. This has been implemented in the following months.

Letter from Arnon Bentur President of RILEM
Dear RILEM member
This message is to inform you that Michel Brusin, our Secretary General, has stepped down from his position, starting February 1st, 2008.
Michel has been the Secretary General of RILEM since 1993, and during this period he has overseen numerous changes in our organization, all of which lead to an Association which is much stronger in terms of its organization as well as its technical activities. It is the commitment of Michel and the team in Bagneux which made all of this happen.
We owe Michel our thanks and respect for leading RILEM over all these years and we wish him success in the future.
We appreciate that for the time being, Pascale Callec accepted to take on the responsibility for the operation in Paris. We will inform you in the near future on the needed steps to appoint a new Secretary General.
Sincerely
Arnon Bentur
RILEM President
