The jury for the Robert L'Hermite Medal was composed of Prof Jacques Marchand, Editor in Chief of the journal Materials and Structures, Prof Geert De Schutter representing the Chairman of the RILEM Technical Advisory Committee, Prof. Ravindra Gettu (Expert appointed by the Bureau under the proposal of the TAC) and Prof. Wolgang Brameshuber (Member-at-Large elected by the General Council.
The jury examined the list of authors who met the criteria for the award: being under 40 years of age in 2007 and having been published in the RILEM journal "Materials and Structures" during 2007.
Dr. Jason WEISS was awarded the 2008 Robert L’Hermite Medal in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the investigation of the volume stability of hydrating cement-based materials and its implication on cracking. Jason Weiss is a RILEM Senior Member. He is professor at the School of Civil Engineering, Purdue University (Indiana, USA). Dr. Weiss is Associate Editor of Materials and Structures, member of the Technical Activity Committee of RILEM ,Chairman of RILEM TC 214-CCD: Concrete cracking and its relation to durability: Integrating material properties with structural performance and Secretary of Educational Activities Committee.
