RILEM Final Workshop of TC 251-SRT: External Sulfate Attack - Field Aspects and Lab Tests

The Final Workshop of the RILEM TC-251 Sulfate Resistance Testing of RILEM is one of the main events of the TC dealing with various aspects of external sulfate attack in concrete structures and test methods.
The Workshop will give opportunity to exchange experiences and researches on concrete structures affected by external sulfate attack. It will give a platform for discussion on test methods to evaluate the resistance of concrete exposed to external sulfate attack. The objectives of this Workshop is to promote technical discussion, debate of ideas and social relations.

The 10th (wrap up) meeting of TC-251-SRT will be held on the afternoon of the 25th of May 2018 at the end of the Workshop.

Mechanisms of alteration in external sulfate attack
•New and original aspects of mechanisms in ESA
•Influence of thermodynamic and kinetics aspects
•Interaction between ESA and other actions (e.g. exposure to sea water)

Field concrete aspects of external sulfate attack
•Damages observed in real structures
•Parameters that affect the attack
•Relationship between degradation and effects on the structures
•The role of the environmental conditions in the type and level of damage

Testing to prevent the external sulfate attack
•New approaches in test methods to evaluate ESA
•Role of various test parameters in the degradation & test criteria to evaluate the degradation
•Limitations of test methods
•New studies linking test methods and field cases
