Would you buy a bag of RED rather than GREY cement? It might sound like a stupid question but color is a quality parameter and as such it is of fundamental importance for cement producers. If not treated, LC3 cement can have a reddish color. This paper describes the successful procedure implemented in a pilot kiln in India to obtain black (rather than red) calcined clay by controlling the presence of oxygen in the cooling phase of calcination. It is an open access paper, enjoy it!
