Abstract: In conceptual product models buildings consist of various functional elements. The intention herein is to present a model and subsequently to develop a method for the evaluation and comparison of the life cycle performance in terms of multiple criteria pertaining to element alternatives. The overall element performance depends on the performances of components each of which may involve any number of criteria. Consequently the method llows to be appraised: 1. Relative element or criteria performances over the complete life cycle, 2.
Relative performances of discrete phases of the life cycle. A demonstrative application on flat roof alternatives is also included.
