Abstract: As the service life planning methodology becomes understood and further developed, there is the prospect emerging of procuring life scoped designs and life built building constructed facilities with a degree of predicted ownership costs and expected serviceability. So both design life and project management should address the procuring and delivering of whole life constructed works. Here, service life profiling should become the basis for optimising life costing and form the basis of life care management. Concluding, design life engineering algorithms are seen as an important foundation for sustainable construction and cost effective life care management and should now be developed
