Abstract: The trade-off reguired among the three corners of the cost-time-guality in a project is a known phenomenon. The life-cycle cost for a project is very complicated due to various affecting factors. This paper has developed a model for evaluating design alternatives of a project, which include a technology-economy model and a function-cost ratio model. It is concluded that the model of function-cost ratio is more practical for it has expressed the evaluation rules of improving function and lowering cost.
