Abstract: This study is an attempt to develop a decision-making support systern for maintenance management of existing concrete bridges based on life cycle analysis. In this study, the durability and load-carrying capability are applied as the respective main indexes of performance for bridge members so as to clarifj the difference between repairs and strengthening measures. A repair is assumed to affect the deterioration of durability, whereas strengthening is assumed to affect the deterioration of load-carrying capability. The deterioration curve is presented as a method of estimating the progressive deterioration of performance on existing bridge members. This proposed system enables not only the evaluation of bridge performance, but also the suggestion of some strategies based on a combination of maintenance cost minimization and quality maximization approach.
