Abstract: An optimum frame structural design criteria is proposed in this paper for the case of the design problem which the members are selected among the stock members for its recycle use. The genetic algorithm(GA) can be effectively adopted to these optimum design problems. The numerical examples of the optimum arrangement of the members in a plane steel frame structure are shown.
