Abstract: In contrast to non-durable goods, there are considerable differences in the life cycle assessment of building products which are basically related to the lengthy useful life of building products. So far, studies did not model the useful life in a standardized or detailed form, although this may have the greatest influence in the result of the life cycle assessment, as far as certain environmental parameters are concerned. For the above-mentioned reasons the Fraunhofer Institutes (IBP and IVV) developed a new method and software for time-resolved screening of the useful life and deriving minimum demands for LCAs of building products.
