Abstract: This paper presents how a use of air-entrained mortar for railway embankment is effective in terms of "Life-cycle Design", L by showing the results of various tests, analyses and an example of construction. This embankment has a lot of advantages in the view of "Life-cycle Design': For example, the embankment can be built even in the restricted space, since hard side-wall can be substituted for a formwork. Also, it can be built even on the poor ground since the weight of the air-entrained mortar is much lighter than the soil that we have ever used. In addition, it does not need any maintenance works.
