Abstract: Environmental management and control of major construction projects will be one of the major competitive parameters for the construction industry into the next century.
Environmental management as a management tool is well on the way to becoming fully integrated with oiher management system at client, consultant and contractor level. The environment looks set to be right up alongside the traditional key factors of time, quality and cost in the future, Economic growth leads to increased production and, consequently, to greater level of solid waste generation. This combined with a constant reduction in the
availability of sites suitable for the establishment of new landfills, has led to a global reassessment of the methods employed to dispose of solid wastes. Construction and demolition debris in Gaza Strip represents a major component of municipal solid waste, ranging from 20-25%. Data in this study were collected by means of questionnaire and site visits to 60 contracting companies in the Gaza Strip. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the development of construction and demolition debris. Recommendations will be focus on options for reduction, reuse and recycling of construction and demolition debris, taking into consideration the constraints of the Gaza Strip situations.
