Abstract: This paper describes the measuring and testing programme of the EUREKA-project E 21 16 DurAAC, investigating the long-term performance of external walls made of rendered AAC, and introduces the experimental building in Gavle, Sweden. The aim of this research work is to identify degradation factors and mechanisms following the scheme in ISO/DIS 15686-2 and subsequently to predict the service life. The testing programme involves monitoring of micro environment and periodical field measurements, as well as laboratory testing of the initial properties of the material and performance over time in order to follow the ageing characteristics of the tested systems. The results from the full-scale field exposure will further be simulated by short-term accelerated tests of AAC wall components.
