Abstract: The load bearing capacity of the torque-controlled expansion anchors depends on the internal and the external friction of the anchor. Especially for the re-expandable torquecontrolled expansion anchors which are suitable for use in cracked and non-cracked concrete, the coefficient of the internal friction must lie within a certain range, so that the anchors re-expand reliably and then resist the external loads efficiently.
Unfortunately the coefficient of the internal friction can vary significantly depending on the materials as well as the speed of movement of friction surfaces. A test method to determine the internal and external frictional coefficient was introduced. The load bearing capacity of the torque-controlled expansion anchors was analyzed with the different values of the internal frictional coefficient.
