Abstract: The artificial water saturation and the temperature distribution during the cycles of the CIF- and CDF- frost test [1, 2] are analysed. Both are correlated to the mechanisms of internal damage of the concrete structure measured by ultrasonic transit time or the related relative dynamic modulus of elasticity. In this article it is shown that the proce-dure generates a uni-axial heat flux which engenders a moisture flow, that arises follow-ing the micro-ice-lens model [5]. Heat flux and moisture transport are interconnected processes.
