Abstract: The tightness and integrity of all Swedish reactor containments depend directly and indirectly on the function of the post-tensioned system. The tension force in the containments is followed up at regular inspections to ensure that the remaining force is sufficient. At the inspections is the tendon force measured with so-called lift-off technique, where a jack is used to lift the end anchor. The interpretation of the measuring results is not obvious, there are difficulties which ordinates both from the measuring process and structural conditions. A condition that is discussed in this article and which could have a major impact on the measuring result is the friction between the tendon and the duct. One conclusion for tendons influenced by friction is that the loss of force at the end anchor not always represents the loss of force in other parts of the tendon.
