Abstract: Applying straightforward rheological principles, this article shows that the material ’s volumetric-flow rate MVR (in cc /10 minutes)can be used to accurately determine the high temperature performance grade specification of paving asphalt binder.
The MVR is easy to determine using a relatively inexpensive,user-friendly flow measurement device (FMD).
On account of the simplicity in measurement,it may be routinely used for quality control /quality assurance purposes.
It can also be used as a rapid product development /formulation tool.
