Abstract: Textile reinforced concrete structures show several significant advantages compared to steel reinforced concrete structures which are well known up to now. However some disadvantages like the low utilization factor of the textile reinforced elements become obvious. As in any reinforced structure, a transfer of forces from reinforcement to concrete is accomplished through bond. Therefore understanding and further improvement of bond properties between textile and concrete is important. In the paper bond properties between different textiles and high performance fine grain concrete are discussed. Numerical simulations with a variation of input data were performed using a nonlinear finite element code based on the microplane model for concrete and the discrete bond model. The bond model is based on a discrete finite element formulation which can be used for steel reinforced concrete as well. The numerical simulations and variation of parameters show the influence of different bond characteristics of textile reinforcements and therefore give some hints on possible optimisation of textile structures. Based on the experimental results and the numerical simulations shown in the paper, the efficiency of different types of textile reinforcement on the structural performance is discussed.
