Abstract: This paper describes experimentally obtained tensile and bending properties of three high performance fiber reinforced cement composites (HPFRCC). The test parameters included: two types of tests (tension and bending); three types of fibers, two polymeric (Spectra and PVA) and one steel, identified as Torex; two sizes of specimens (small-size and large-size); and two types of matrices (mortar with f¢c = 55 MPa and concrete with f¢c = 34 MPa). The volume fraction of fibers was kept at 2% for PVA and Torex fibers, and 1.5% for Spectra fibers. Comparisons of tensile and bending response curves up to the peak load are made among the three fibers and two different specimen sizes. All composites exhibited strain-hardening behavior and developed multiple cracks. Best overall response was achieved with Torex steel fibers.
