Abstract: 
Using the method of first-order-second-moment recommended in the code of GB50199-94 "Unified Design Standard for Reliability of Hydraulic Engineering Structures", the reliabilities of composite girders of plane steel gates directed at failure states of bending, shearing and combination bending with shear, which are specified in the code of DL/T 5039-95 "Specification for Design of Steel Gate in Hydraulic and Hydroelectric Engineering", have been analyzed. In the reliability analysis to the failure state of combination bending with shear, the influence of different load-effect ratios p(tau) have been considered, and using non-liner limit state equations, the corresponding reliability indices (bêta) have been obtained by double-iteration method. Then combinings with an example of actual project, the reliability indices of the girder, before and after it was reinforced, have been calculated too. The research findings not only provide reference to revise the current code of DL/T 5039-95, but also provide theoretical basis for reliability appraisal and assessment of girders of finished steel gates.
