Abstract:
The multifunctional vibration-absorption megaframe structure, in which the control devices are placed between the major-frame and the minor-frames, is an innovative controlled structure system. In the system, the minor-frames act as tuned mass dampers, base isolators and damping energy-dissipaters. In this paper, the theoretical analysis and the experimental research are reviewed. The dynamic analyses and the experimental research show that the seismic responses of the proposed vibration-absorption structures decrease significantly in comparison with the normal megaframe structure. The reduction of the displacement response of the major-frame is about 60%~80% and that of the absolute acceleration responses of the minor-frames are about 70%~90%. The proposed system can also effectively reduce the dynamic responses under the excitation of strong wind. The proposed structure system presents a new strategy of structural control for highrise and super highrise buildings.
