Abstract:
Currently Timber Concrete Composite (TCC) constructions are often applied for strengthening existing timber beam slabs. The load bearing capacity of composite construction is primarily influenced by the material properties of the construction materials but also by the properties of the connection. The concrete slab has to perform several tasks, not only in load carrying direction of the ceiling but also perpendicular to the direction of span or for stiffening the whole building. They will be pointed out in this paper. Furthermore, the working process and the dead load of the construction are of particular interest in the field of redevelopment. Several innovative concretes have been verified for the use in TCC constructions. In this paper fibre reinforced lightweight concrete will be focused on. Therefore, a practical application of Polyvinylalcohol (PVA)-fibre reinforced dry lightweight concrete will be presented. Before, during and after the application different static and dynamic measurements were carried out. They are described, and the results are shown in this paper. The advantages and disadvantages of different innovative concretes will be pointed out.
