Abstract: The repair of pavement is an alternative to complete rebuilding. In particular, in the case of reflective cracking, deposing an interface slowing down the rising crack, before the new overlay, is one of the currently used techniques. We propose here the design of an experimental method to reproduce the beginning of crack growth with traffic loading. Thanks to two jacks with alternative force imposed, we simulate the deployment of load during the repeated passing by of vehicles, with rest periods in order to take healing effects into account for bituminous materials. Test frame is designed so as to reproduce the forces straight above the crack, obtained thanks to road's structure modelling. These parameters are chosen because they control crack propagation. This test is on an intermediate step between multi-layer structure aspect of the roadway and pure material aspect.
