Abstract: The objective of the work has been to follow the study of diffusion of chlorides through non-saturated concrete, by application of a more refined model, which takes into account the effect of chloride binding by concrete. The chloride binding was considered in terms of a Langmuir's isotherm determined experimentally. An explicit finite difference method was used to solve the differential equation describing simultaneously the binding and diffusion of chloride ions, thus allowing the calculation of the corresponding diffusion coefficient.
