Abstract: The effect of viscosity agent on self-compactability of fresh concrete was investigated in terms of the pressure transferability of fresh mortar. The pressure transferability influences the interaction between the mortar and coarse aggregate when SCC is to flow through the obstacles. The pressure transferability of the fresh mortar in SCC using various types of viscosity agent was tested. It was found that the influence of the viscosity agent was different in accordance with its type: some increased the pressure transferability and the other decreased. However, the difference was not so large that the self-compactability could not be influenced so much.
