Abstract: This study focuses on the behavior of moisture in self-compacted high strength concrete (SCHSC) under sealed and drying conditions. By establishing the relationship between increment of evaporable water content in concrete from setting time and electrical resistance, the distribution of water content in the section of specimen under different curing conditions and water-binder ratios were investigated. Based on the distribution of water content obtained at different ages of concrete, its time-dependent change in SCHSC due to both water evaporation and self-desiccation, and the influences of curing condition and water-binder ratio on the behavior of moisture were discussed. Further, the behavior of autogenous shrinkage and drying shrinkage of SCHSC were evaluated from the view of water content. The results showed that the depth influenced by drying is about 5-15mm from drying surface in the case of W/B0.25 and 5-25mm in W/B0.35 when drying started at the age of 1-3days. The moisture distribution caused by self-desiccation is not significant in smaller specimen used in this study.
