Abstract: Semi-flowable self-consolidating concrete (SFSCC) is a type of concrete that not only self-consolidates during placing but also holds its shape right after casting. SFSCC has been successfully used for slip-form construction. This paper summarizes both the scientific investigations and engineering applications of SFSCC. It reviews the features, mix design requirements, and performance of SFSCC. In addition, effects of powder materials, especially nanomaterials, on rheological and thixotropic behavior of SFSCC are discussed.
