Abstract: This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the influence of curing temperature and type of cement, i.e. Portland cement and Blast-Furnace Slag (BFS) cement, on the autogenous deformation of cement paste and concrete in the first week after casting.
The rate of the autogenous deformation depended on the curing temperature, both for cement pastes and concretes, while the magnitude of the shrinkage after some days was similar.
Another experimental finding is that cement pastes and concretes made with BFS cement showed higher shrinkage in the first days than concretes made with Portland cement.
