Abstract: In this study, the effect of nano-particles on mechanical properties and durability of ultrahigh performance concrete (UHPC) are investigated. Nano-Silica(NS), Nano-Calcium Carbonate(NC) and Nano-Calcium-Silicate(NCS) particles are introduced into concrete through replacing cement by 2wt%. Mechanical properties are investigated through the compressive and flexural strength test. Durability is evaluated by rapid chloride permeability test (RCPT). Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) confirm variation of calcium hydroxide (CH) in the concretes containing nano-particles.
Results of this study indicate that nano-particles is highly effective in the improvement of both mechanical properties and durability of UHPC.
