Abstract: The research trends of nanomodified high performance recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) are introduced in this paper. The reasons that the mechanical properties of high performance RAC are inferior to that of normal high-performance concrete were systematic analyzed from different aspects such as recycled aggregate and interfacial transition zone. The mechanical properties of recycled aggregate is reduced by the presence of a large number of old mortars adhered to recycled aggregates, which increase the pores of recycled aggregate concrete and reduce the bonding properties of interfacial transition zone (ITZ) to a certain extent, leading to the mechanical strength of recycled aggregate concrete decreases. It shows that the adoption of nanomaterials can significantly improve the mechanical properties of RAC, which is confirmed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The microstructure of the interfacial transition zone of RAC is obviously improved by nanomodification. According to the results, the nanomaterials can be achieved higher mechanical properties and compacted microstructures
for RAC by nucleation and filling effects.
