Abstract: The preparation of ultra-high-toughness cementitious material with high volume fraction steel fibers reinforcing reactive powder concrete (SFRPC) and slurry infiltrating steel fibers(SIFCON) were researched. Third-point bending tests and uniaxial tensile tests were conducted to investigate the properties of the ultra-high-toughness cementitious material. The effects of different quantities of steel fibers and procedures on toughness of ultra-high-
toughness cementitious material were analyzed. The results indicate that the flexural strength of specimens made by SFRPC is nearly proportional to the volume fraction of steel fibers when the volume fraction of steel fibers varies from 3% to 5% and when the volume fraction of steel fibers is higher than 5%, the flexural strength of specimens decreases due to the non-uniform
distribution of fibers. Volume fraction of steel fibers can be up to 12.2% when infiltration technology was taken to prepare ultra-high-toughness cementitious material and the specimens show significant pseudo-strain-hardening under bending tests.
