Abstract: The orthotropic steel-UHPC composite deck system may present a potential solution to fatigue cracking of steel bridge with orthotropic steel bridge deck. In order to investigate the fatigue performance of connection details in the Fochen West Bridge with this system, stress monitoring of all details under random traffic flows was applied as to obtain real stress response under bridge operation condition. The recorded maximum stress range and stress spectrum are extracted with the rain-flow counting method, and the equivalent stress ranges are also provided based on the fatigue equivalent damage theory. It is found that the stress responses at the details in the deck plate indicate very low stress ranges and small loading cycles, and the floorbeam cutout is significantly dominated by the in-plane stress. It is also found that when the details is directly under the wheel loads, each axle would produces one loading cycle at the details on the deck, while each axle group will be expected to generate one stress range at other details. For wheel loads deviate from any of the details, individual axle can not be made out and the reduction on stress response will be dependent on transverse location of wheel loads.
