Abstract: Nowadays the civil construction is one of the main sources of waste generation. The simple
disposal of Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) in landfills appears to be a technically
and economically feasible solution due to its low cost and low environmental impacts, since it
is almost an inert material. The exploration of deposits to obtain natural aggregates results in a
series of impacts. These negative impacts could be minimized by replacing the natural
aggregates by CDW. In this way, this work aims to evaluate the index of form of CDW in
order to substitute natural coarse aggregate using the NBR 7809 (2008) Brazilian Standard
Method and the EN 933-3 (2012) European Standard Method. The obtained results for both
standards showed acceptable values according to normative criteria: DG/TJ07/008, LNEC E
471, BS 882.Both standards suggest more sample representability: the Brazilian standard
specifies the number of grains per grain size range; while the European standard covers a
greater number of particle sizes.
