Abstract: Lithium consumption in the production of batteries and accumulators for energy storage is increasing. It can be foreseen that the amount of waste with higher content of this metal will grow. Cement industry is one of the major consumers of several types of waste and secondary raw materials, therefore it is desirable to study the impact of lithium on the properties of clinker and cement. Under laboratory conditions, it has been found that lithium has a significant impact on clinker melt formation and on formation of main clinker phases. Moreover, cements with sufficient technological parameters were prepared from clinkers burned at 1350 °C with Li2O up to 1 wt.%. The research was conducted by means of XRD, DTA, optical and electron microscopy.
