Abstract: A service life prediction method was proposed for reinforced Ultra-High Performance Concretes (UHPC) structures exposed to chloride environments based on the Fick’s 2nd law and effective media theory. The relationship between the chloride diffusion coefficient and the porosity of UHPC was established. And the time dependency of the chloride diffusion coefficient was represented by the porosity evolution of UHPC paste with time, which could be obtained with hydration models or experiment tests. A case study was present to illustrate the practical application of the proposed method. According to the results of the case study, the service life of UHPC structures is much longer than that of normal concrete, which makes UHPC potential materials for sustainable constructions. The reliability of proposed method could be improved by long-term experiment and field tests in this service condition.
