Abstract: In order to research the effect of condensed silica fume (CSF) on the viscosity of cement
based materials. ordinary Portland cement and different water reducers were used to
investigate the viscosity change of cement paste with different water-cement ratios. Results
show that the viscosity of cement paste could be reduced to a certain degree at low shear rates with less amount of condensed silica fume(CSF) added, thus the workability of cement-based materials can be improved by CSF to some extent; the influence of CSF changing the
viscosity of cement pastes is different with variational water reducers , and the changing
effect of CSF on cement paste has an adaptation with different water reducers.
