Abstract: A pilot study of non-steel reinforced concrete beam using ultra-high performance strain-hardening cementitious composites (UHP-SHCC) was conducted. The structural behaviors of plain UHP-SHCC beams under bending were experimentally explored and compared to the ordinary reinforced concrete (RC) beams in present research. The steel
reinforcement ratios of longitudinal bar for RC beams were 0.69%, 1.86% and 2.94%, respectively. The load-displacement relationships and the ductility index values of UHP-SHCC beams were obtained and compared with RC beams. It was found that the UHP-SHCC beams showed excellent performance in both load capacity and ductility at the
ultimate limit state. The loading capacity of non-steel reinforced UHP-SHCC beams was approaching to the one of RC beams with reinforcement ratio of 1.86%, which indicated the feasibility of utilizing the UHP-SHCC to as a 3D printing material.
