Abstract: This paper deals with the use of embedded piezoelectric transducers to perform real-time ultrasonic testing of concrete. Two applications are presented: early-age monitoring of the P-wave velocity allowing to determine the setting time and estimate the Young’s modulus, and crack monitoring using a specific damage indicator computed from the measured signals. Both applications demonstrate the performance of this recent technology and its potential for field applications which will be performed in the near future.
