Abstract: A probabilistic approach is used in this paper to describe matrix multiple cracking in textile reinforced concrete specimens under tension as function of the applied load. The presented model is based on the well-known Aveston-Cooper-Kelly theory (ACK-theory), except for one hypothesis: it is not assumed that all matrix multiple cracking occurs at one fixed stress level. A two-parameter Weibull model represents the failure properties of the matrix. The presented ‘stochastic cracking’ theory is verified on two series of specimens: slightly reinforced specimens and heavily reinforced specimens. As will be shown, the ‘stochastic cracking theory’ leads to good prediction of the nonlinear stress-strain behaviour in tension. Nonetheless, the properties measured on the separate materials do not always represent the material properties of this same material when combined with the other fraction.
