Abstract: The paper presents the results of a study which compared the drying shrinkage behaviour of two types of concrete: one with dryly added super-absorbent polymers (SAP) and one concrete containing saturated lightweight aggregates (LWA). Additionally two reference mixtures were produced: one with a w/c-ratio of 0.36, equivalent to the w/c-ratio without the water of the internal curing additives, and one with the w/c-ratio of 0.42, corresponding to the effective available w/c-ratio. The shrinkage measurements were accompanied by compressive strength and porosity measurements.
