Abstract: In this paper, tests to evaluate the flow behaviour of viscosity agent type SCC in comparison to powder type SCC are described. Therefore, standardised fresh concrete test methods are applied. To investigate the flow behaviour in horizontally placed building elements, an L-box with an extended flow distance is used. The investigations of the flow behaviour in vertically placed building components are conducted on model walls.
It was demonstrated that the viscosity agent type features the same filling ability as a powder type when the respective SCC show the same rheological properties determined with the slump flow- and the V-funnel test. When different SCC show the same slump flow, the SCC with the lower viscosity is better suited for the production of horizontal building elements. To manufacture building elements of a high fair-faced concrete quality, a powder type SCC should be chosen, which as a rule shows more robust fresh concrete properties.
