Abstract: Moisture in building materials is a common parameter of most alterations, whatever the material considered. Its identification then, quantification, conditions largely the sharp diagnosis of the tested material. The evaluation of material moisture is important, first because it is a factor conditioning alteration; and secondly, because it can be a bias for material property assessment.
Anyway, it is still a parameter which assessment on site must be improved.
This article presents the different approaches used for moisture assessment in concrete, masonry and wood structures. As function of the specificity of each material, the authors highlight common points and differences.
The aim of this study is to identify how the different knowledge (generally linked to the materials), by being used together, can improve the evaluation of moisture.
