Abstract: A parameter identification study of the problem of coupled water and salt transport in porous media is presented in the paper. In the experimental part, water and chloride concentration profiles in cement mortar samples subjected to one-side chloride solution penetration are measured as well as chloride binding isotherm for the studied material. On the basis of assessed data, computational inverse analysis of experimentally determined profiles is performed, using the simple diffusion model, diffusion-advection model and Boltzmann transformation, so that chloride diffusion coefficient as a function of chloride concentration and moisture diffusivity as a function of moisture content are identified from a single experiment. Finally, the results obtained by the inverse analysis of the performed experiments are discussed, and practical recommendations for identification of mechanisms of coupled moisture and salt transport in cement based materials are given.
