Abstract: A two-phase finite element based corrosion model is presented. The model allows simulation of the propagation of macrocell corrosion in a homogeneous defect-free concrete-steel system. A theoretical framework is used for description of the electrochemical processes and for determining the impact of environmental and material properties on the corrosion process.
To demonstrate the applicability of the proposed model a numerical example is provided where the influence of fibres and moisture content on the resistivity and the corrosion current density is illustrated.
