Abstract: The sandwich block with wheat straw blocks which is made of a hollow concrete block filled with wheat straw blocks characterized by energy-saving and environment protection.
Using heat-flow meter to test the thermal performance of four walls, the experiment study proved that the heat transfer coefficient of the sandwich block walls with wheat straw blocks is 21.69% and 43.27% respectively; lower than two types of ordinary hollow concrete block walls. This proved that wheat straw block is effective in improving the heat preservation performance of the wall, so it can be served as inexpensive building thermal insulation materials in building energy-saving. To deeply understand the distribution of temperature field inside the sandwich block wall, the sandwich block wall was analyzed by the ADINA finite element software together with test data. And the simulation results were in good accordance with the experiment results, which proved that this method can be applied in other similar tests. Our research found that the heat transfer coefficient of the sandwich block wall was about 1.00 W/m2·K, which can meet the architectural design standards of building energy-saving for the provisions on the external walls in Hot Summer and Warm Winter Zone and Hot Summer and Cold Winter Zone. So this research can extend the application fields of hollow concrete blocks and conforms to national policy of energy-saving and environment protection.
