Abstract: The waste slate powder was used as the active admixture to replace part of cement in the experiment. The cementitious activity of waste slate powder in the system of slate powdercement was discussed and the effect of calcination and chemical activators on the cementitious activity of slate powder was also analyzed. Results show that the waste slate powder has a low cementitious activity at early days and when the replacement ratio is 10%, the compressive strength of 28d is close to that of pure cement paste; the cementitious activity of slate powder was not improved significantly through calcination; when the content of chemical activators Na2SO4 and NaOH is 1%~5% and 0.5% respectively, the early compressive strength of slate powder-cement paste is improved and the effect of CaSO4·2H2O and Ca(OH)2 on stimulating the activity of slate powder is not ideal.
