Abstract: The technology of re-using waste concrete resources and replacing natural aggregates with recycled aggregate concrete (RAC), can effectively make use of the waste concrete resources as new building aggregates, save the natural coarse and fine aggregates, and protect the environment. RAC-filled steel tube (RACFST) can protect RAC with the confinement of the outer steel tube, and the interaction between the steel tube and core RAC exists. This is propitious for improving the mechanical performance of RAC. In this paper, the results of experimental and theoretical studies of circular and square RAC-filled steel tubular (RACFST) members under various loadings are presented, and the members are subjected to short-term loadings, long-term sustained loads and cyclic flexural loadings. Two numerical methods, including fibre model method (FMM) and finite element method (FEM), are established to investigate the performance of RACFST members under various loadings. The results in this paper may be taken as reference in related research.
