Abstract: This paper presents a brief review on properties of confined recycled aggregate concrete, followed by the short overview on the related research, it introduces the uniaxial behavior, the flexural performance, shrinkage and creep performance, as well as eccentric loaded behavior of steel tube confined recycled aggregate concrete or FRP tube confined recycled aggregate concrete specimens. Considering the test data, it shows that there exist some differences between the elements made of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) and that of natural aggregate concrete (NAC), and the performance of the confined RAC is inferior to that of confined NAC, however, it is safe and feasible to apply RAC into ordinary structural elements.
Based on the research results, it is also concluded that adopting steel tube or FRP tube confined RAC is an efficient means to improve the application of RAC.
