Abstract: Textile-reinforced concrete (TRC) is a composite material that exhibits initial and damage induced anisotropy caused by the orientation of the reinforcement as well as the evolution of damage due to cracking of the concrete matrix. Both effects are strongly directional-dependent and need to be captured at the macroscopic scale. In the present paper a microplane damage model as a phenomenological framework for the directional-dependent damage response of reinforced cementitious composites is applied. The microplanes oriented in a reinforced direction are associated with modified damage functions that reflect the strain-hardening effect due to the multiple cracking of the matrix. The model is calibrated and validated based on experimental results on TRC tensile and slab tests and applied in the simulation of a real shell structure. Besides the experimental identification presented here, the modeling framework is prepared for deriving the directional-dependent damage functions using a mesoscopic model for multiple cracking of reinforced composite.
