Abstract: The load bearing behavior of textile reinforced concrete (TRC) is highly non-linear due to the complex cracking behavior. For the special case of uniaxial loading and load aligned reinforcement quite reliable models have been developed and are available. The models are not directly applicable for biaxial loaded structures like plates or shell structures because of several effects of interaction, which are discussed in this paper. The results of an experimental investigation are shown and give an impression of the correlation between loading conditions, orientation of the reinforcement and the direction of crack formation. Afterwards, a mechanical model is described and some aspects of the observed failure mechanisms are compared with the numerical results. The paper ends with a discussion of further effects, e.g. inclined crack bridging by the reinforcement, to be considered in the future development of the biaxial material model of TRC.
